Greysbrooke Primary and their American Road Trip

With bank holiday Monday starting the week, the children of Greysbrooke Primary descended onto Ingestre Hall for 4 days of yeehaws, shootouts, Hollywood and Broadway. The group arrived in an orderly fashion before being sent on a tour of the building and allowed some time to settle into their surroundings for the week. Once the group had eaten lunch and somewhat acclimatised they split into 4 different art forms with students participating in Drama, Dance, Art, and Music.
The theme for the 4 days was American Road Trip, which inspired some brilliant and creative works to be made across all four art forms. Richard and his Drama students took us from LA to New York stopping off at some famous attractions along the way, in what was a very captivating performance.
In Music the group got to work with 3 specialists during their stay. Ollie worked closely with the musicians on their lyrics giving us a detailed struggle between the undead, cowboys and sheriffs on their trip across America. John S, our recording specialist, then worked on the production and synergy between musician and software, recording two fantastic tracks with the group. Once the entire recording was done Johnny P came in to help the group with their performance techniques, which resulted in the final sharing being superb.
In Dance the group worked tirelessly with Tara to choreograph a truly stunning performance. All the dancers had worked extremely hard putting their own flare and expression into their final performance creating a dance that they could all be extremely proud of.
And finally, the artists had made a serious amount of artwork with Heather. They spray painted a van bonnet replicating the world famous New York skyline. The artists also used card, paint, tracing paper, spray and more to create their own pieces of art focused around the statue of Liberty and a host of yellow New York taxis.
All in all it was a brilliant week. All of the staff at Ingestre thoroughly enjoyed having Greysbrooke to stay. The group produced some wonderful work that they all should be very proud of. All this creativity was infused with some quality free time where the group got to relax in the grounds, play games, not to mention let loose at the disco on the Thursday night. In summary it was a great week and Ingestre very much looks forward to welcoming Greysbrooke to join us again next year.
