Bleakhouse and Lightwoods October 15th- 19th 2018
This week we were host to two schools who collaborated to create incredible and unique artworks. Both schools participated in Art, Animation, Music, Dance and Drama classes during their stay with us here at Ingestre. Concentrating on the theme of Journeys, the groups in Animation, Art and Music and Dance expressed their ideas through space travel, personal journeys and their everyday journeys to school and explored the theme in lots of different ways.
Over 100 pieces of artwork were created in Visual Arts, where students produced images of themselves as astronauts in space using watercolour and brusho techniques, took a line for a “walk” and used train tickets to create collage skylines and used perspective to create depth to their drawings.
In Music, two songs about travelling through space were written, recorded and produced, ready to give live performances in Studio 3, a great achievement for all the children in both bands.
Drama and Dance groups both produced original pieces of theatre and performances were strong.
This was a great group of children and staff, with an abundance of talent. Both being Sandwell schools, it was a great change for them to escape the big city and be fully immersed in the Arts. We were delighted with the work that the children produced and were very impressed with how they worked together and got along so well. There were certainly some new friendships made, with children going home having developed their independence, creative ability and stretched themselves to perform, present and think about their work.
